Landscape Lighting

Architectural Landscape Lighting

Custom landscape lighting installed in Bowling Green, Ohio, with LED lights below several trees that light up the trees

Designed Around How You Live

Landscape lighting should do more than illuminate — it should guide.

Before placing a single fixture, we consider:

  • Where the eye is naturally drawn
  • How guests approach your home
  • Whether we want to emphasize the front entry, side approach, or rear entertaining space
  • How pathways, patios, and architectural features are actually used

When we understand how your space functions, we design lighting to move people through it intentionally.

Layered lighting creates:

  • Visual depth
  • Architectural emphasis
  • Defined transitions
  • A natural, inviting flow

This is not random fixture placement.
It is structured design.

Designed for Scale

Approximately:

  • 70% of our systems are 300W
  • 30% are 500W

When clients anticipate future expansion, we intentionally size transformers larger.

Oversizing allows:

  • Future fixture additions
  • Zone expansion
  • Performance stability
  • Reduced long-term modification costs

We regularly install:

  • 20–50 fixture systems
  • Multi-zone layouts
  • Individually dimmable fixtures
  • Integrated roofline + landscape systems

Our largest residential project includes a 35-acre resort-style property with over 50 fixtures.

We are built for properties that require more.

Professional-Grade Materials. No Compromises.

Our primary supplier is Sterling Lighting.

Why?

  • Solid brass construction
  • 97+ CRI (industry-leading color accuracy)
  • Long-term durability
  • Clean beam control

For color integration:

  • Redwood for premium color systems
  • Inception for drop-in color upgrades

High CRI matters.

Low-quality fixtures distort color and flatten architectural detail.
High CRI reveals texture, material variation, and true tone.

It’s a difference you see immediately.

Unified Exterior Lighting

For properties that include permanent roofline lighting, we can integrate:

  • Shared controls
  • Coordinated scenes
  • Color-changing accents
  • Multi-zone dimming

This creates one cohesive exterior lighting system — not isolated installs.

Service Beyond Installation

We offer:

  • Annual maintenance plans
  • Proactive system checks
  • Connection inspection
  • Fixture adjustment
  • System upgrades
  • Repair of outdated or improperly installed systems

There are few dedicated lighting service providers in our area.

We frequently repair and modernize systems installed by others.

Typical response time: 2–3 days.

Longevity isn’t just about materials — it’s about support.

Northwest Ohio can be especially dark in the winter. Our goal is to help brighten up not just your home but your life with amazing landscape lighting. When your home is dark it is uninviting to guests but inviting to criminals. With permanent landscape lighting, we can make your home warm and inviting to you, your friends, and your family. As well as  add increased security and peace of mind.

Increased Security

Proper outdoor lighting installation does more than improve aesthetics. It increases visibility around walkways, stairs, and entry points, helping reduce trip hazards and dark areas around your home. A professionally installed landscape lighting system adds an extra layer of security while creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Curb Appeal

Your home is one of your most valuable investments, and we believe it should shine as beautifully at night as it does during the day. Our lighting designs are carefully curated to highlight the unique architectural features that make your home special, from timeless details to modern accents. Every light we install is placed with purpose, turning your home and landscaping into a stunning, personalized display that feels as warm and inviting as the memories you’ve made there.

Extend your living space

When the sun goes down, and you look through your windows, all you see is a black mirror. By adding landscape lighting to your home’s exterior, you create the ambience of a larger living space when you are inside, as well as more usable space to use in the evenings when you are outside. Exterior lighting, especially of trees and elements in the yard, helps create an extended living space you can appreciate year round.

Our Process

Landscape Lighting Designs Customized to Your Property

1

Creating a space that you want to be in is more than just adding a few lights to the backyard. So often when it comes to landscape lighting we only think of what we have seen, not what is possible. Our goal is to show you what is possible so you can decide what space we can help you create.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Landscape Lighting Cost?

Experts suggest that homeowners invest between 1% and 3% of their home’s value in lighting to enhance both beauty and security. That said, every project is unique — some of our clients choose to spend more to create a truly showstopping look, while others opt for simpler designs that fit their budget. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach, but this rule of thumb is a helpful starting point if you’re wondering what kind of investment makes sense for your home.

Can you repair our current Landscape Lights?

We can evaluate your current system to determine if the landscape lights need to be repaired or replaced.

What is your service area?

For Landscape Lighting we serve a wide area. We typically will travel up to 1.5 hours from our shop in Bluffton Ohio. So North to Toledo, East to Mansfield, South to Dayton, and West to Fort Wayne.

What kind of power do Landscape Lights use?

Landscape Lighting uses low voltage or 12v power. This makes it safer to bury the wire directly into the ground. We install a transformer on the outside of your home in a discreet location that changes the outlet or 120v power to 12v and then distributes the power to the fixtures. Since we use LED lights a typical system will reflect between $2 and $20 on your monthly electric bill.

How deep are wires buried?

Typically 6–12 inches, depending on location and load. This protects against damage and soil movement caused by freeze–thaw cycles.

Do you repair systems installed by other companies?

Yes. We frequently repair and upgrade outdated or improperly installed systems.

Light Up Lima did a great job helping with my outside Christmas lighting. I love how they made suggestions on which lights and where. The cost was very reasonable, and it looks beautiful! I wanted to add a nativity in the back yard and their putting lights in the trees looks like the stars in the sky above the manger. So beautiful. Already wanting them it up next year and maybe adding a little more and years to come. Have so many people asking who did it as they love it too. I have recently had my landscape lighting and patio audio sytem updated. Light Up Lima did an amazing job. They were very professional and completely the job quickly. The house lights up beautifully and the sound system if amazing when the family is outside. Thank you Light Up Lima for the great job!!!!!
